I just signed the following petition addressed to: Connecticut's Low and Moderate Income Residents and Families.

Open Long Island Sound to EVERYONE regardless of income or residency
Connecticut Community Boating is striving to create public access for all of Connecticut's residents by creating low cost, affordable access to Long Island Sound for Everyone. Whether it's swimming, sailing, fishing or kayaking, Connecticut's towns and municipalities make it impossible for low to moderate income families to access boating on our Greatest Natural Resource. From parking fees for parks, beaches and boat ramps to basic permissions to recreate, use and enjoy our water access points around the State to the fact we live on one of the most polluted bodies of water in the Country- Long Island Sound is not accessible to everyone.
We are trying to create five public access points around the State so that you may access sailing, boating, swimming, fishing and kayaking in the most affordable and public manner in the State. We have targeted the Greater New Haven, Middletown, Bridgeport, Groton and Norwich areas as key metropolitan areas that can support a Community Boating Fleet and Facility, similar to those located in Boston, Baltimore and Miami, but lack the attention of State and Town officials to make this a top priority and allow us to do our work.
We want to mobilize our community and provide residents from Ashford to Stratford, Litchfield to New London with an affordable way to enjoy a day on Long Island Sound. But State, Town and Local Officials have shut us out at every turn.
Sign this petition and let your local officials know that the 99% will no longer be shut out from Connecticut's Greatest Natural Resource, Long Island Sound.
